Exploring Salem Oregon: The Willamette Queen
Life returns to the Willamette River, where
sternwheelers were once the main mode of transportation. Sternwheeler
Excursions operates the 87 foot, 125 ton, twin paddle-wheeler year-round from
its port of Salem, Oregon on the Willamette River.
The Willamette Queen was
designed as a scaled down likeness of the former Mississippi and Yukon
Territory Riverboats with paddles that really do propel her. Built
in Newport, Oregon, in 1990, she has a Coast Guard approved capacity of 108.
The dining area accommodates 82 dinner guests, and an outside deck has seating
for 18 more.
Relive Oregon’s historical past
in an elegant dining experience as the ship leisurely glides along the
Willamette River towards Independence or Keizer, depending on water levels.
